The Fairy`s Tale

May - June 2003

A magical, theatrical adventure which will entrance, entertain and amaze children in equal measure….

Taking its young audiences on a wonderful theatrical adventure the show introduces children to enchanting characters living in a world where anything can happen and usually does. With the added appeal of a magic and circus show, it tells the tale through magic puppetry, illusion, circus, black light, mask, mime and music of a man who aspires to build a world where all the things under the sky are built and made by him.

For children aged 5 and over and their families.

Cahoots NI’s A Fairys Tale is one of those delicious little shows that you’d be mad to miss – whether you have tiny kids or are one yourself!

Set amongst the colourful clutter of Georgina’s Whatsits and Thingys bric a brac emporium, Paul Bosco Mc Eneaney has used all his tricks of magic, storytelling and illusion to conjure up an hour away with the fairies.

Stuart Marshall’s gorgeously zany set and costumes, and Paul Boyd’s plinky plonk music, provide the perfect spring board for Zoë Seatons sparkly production, brought appealingly to life by Christina Nelson’s plump, twinkly Georgina, Damian Cox’s sinister delivery man and Seamus Allen and Mary McNally as the two mischievous creatures, who inhabit the little wooden house, tucked away in a dark corner.

Without labouring the point, the story is about having faith and believing. If you do, your dreams can come true – often in a way you least expect.

‘I went to see your show at the Millenium Forum with P5 children. I just had to let you know I thought it was absolutely brilliant! What a feast to indulge the imagination. It was wonderful that the children were able to experience the performance. Some of them were bowled over by the magic. Long may you continue with such creativity, to draw their imaginations into the magic, rather than being lambasted by cheap, one-dimensional Japanese cartoons.’
