The Bedside Theatre

Cahoots' latest project is an incredibly exciting venture called Bedside Theatre. Cahoots spent 10 days in various hospitals across Northern Ireland delivering 'mini-productions' in various wards and waiting areas.

These are original pieces of children’s theatre, based around the small set of a flea circus - no real fleas involved!! Performances are 1-1 at individual bedsides or to small groups - whichever is most appropriate. The performances were delivered by 3 actors/musicians and lasted around 5 minutes each although this could be easily adapted depending on the situation or patient.

Cahoots worked closely with Artists-in-Residence and/or Play Therapists in each Trust to deliver this complementary arts project and ensure that ‘Bedside Theatre’ was integrated into each Trust’s ongoing programme of arts work.

2004 has been a tremendously successful first year which allowed us to pilot the Bedside Theatre project before expanding and fully developing it for Autumn 2005 and beyond.
