   THE BUMBLEBEE ORCHESTRA

Cahoots NI has led the way in the arts and health sector with a brand new and unique community outreach project – The Bumblebee Orchestra - which completed a tour of Respite Care Units for disabled children and hospices for terminally ill children throughout Northern Ireland in Sept/Oct 2007.

We were delighted with the successful completion of our four week pilot tour

of The Bumblebee Orchestra.  The project saw four giant, musical

bumblebees visit various healthcare settings throughout Northern Ireland

and engage  young  audiences  through puppetry,  live  music,  magical

      illusion,  song,  dance  and  comedy.

It is a highly interactive piece which has been enjoyed by small groups

of  children  with varying physical and learning disabilities in common

room settings.  The project also visited hospitals, special schools and

      adult training and resource centres.

The Bumblebee Orchestra has sprung from the success of Cahoots

NI’s ongoing Bedside Theatre project that was recently nominated in the

Health category of the National Lottery Awards 2007. It competed

against just nine other projects from the UK.

The BUMBLEBEE ORCHESTRA will be hitting the road again in summer

      2008.
